I jumped at the chance to have a “Darth Vader credit card”! It’s the Chase Disney Rewards Visa, a no annual fee credit card that earns “Disney dollars” and gives me additional benefits for when I go Park Hopping with the family, or just my wife.
I’ll be honest. I don’t carry it around year round, I pull it out when it’s time to head to Orlando or Anaheim. Here’s why.
While the sign up bonus is no longer as great as when I first got the card. You still can earn a $50 statement credit for charging $500 on the card in the first three months. Then you earn 1% in Disney Rewards Dollars on purchases. This gets loaded onto a separate Disney Rewards Redemption card that you can request from Chase or pick up from Guest Services if you’re at a park. (but expect to wait in a line)
These rewards can then be spent at the parks, when you go to see a Disney movie (at a participating theatre), Disney Store locations, and on the Disney Cruise Line.
It’s the perks that make this card valuable to me.
Then there are opportunities to meet Disney and Star Wars characters that you can only get into if you have this card. There are two locations at Disney World. One in EPCOT, and one at Hollywood Studios. Since these spots are exclusively for card holders. Lines, in my experience, have been short and fast moving.
The one at EPCOT is location to the left of Journey into Imagination. We’ve met Mickey and Goofy as well as Minnie and Pluto there.
Meanwhile at Hollywood Studios, we were able to capture this picture in all it’s awkward glory.
At Disney’s California Adventure, we were able to walk right in to a memorable visit with Stitch. This lil guy was HILARIOUS! He noticed my pin lanyard and scolded me for not having one of him on there. I told him that I kept that one at home because it was special and I didn’t want to lose it. He wasn’t buying it.
If Darth Vader isn’t quite your flavor, there are a lot of options to choose from!
