As I logged in to Ebates this morning, I noticed a subtle little change. Ebates is now Rakuten. I’ve talked about how much of a fan of Ebates, and earning cash back from my online and in-store spending. (Double dip? Don’t mind if I do!)
As it turns out, Japanese company Rakuten purchased Ebates in 2014 for a poultry $1B. Over the last five years, they have been slowly changing Ebate’s website to look more and more like Rakuten’s user experience. And today (at least for me), I find myself adding Rakuten to my password manager.
Not only that, but we’re looking at 15% cash back at over 400 stores as a way to celebrate the change.
My wife just came downstairs, and I tell her the big news. She’s not surprised or excited. “Yeah, it’s been that way for a long time”. Why am I always the last to know?
