How I spent my 2017 Delta Miles: Part 1

[apsp_save_button]

When planning our wedding for October 2017, we needed to decide what we were doing to do for our honeymoon. Since October in Minnesota is just about one of the most gorgeous things in the world, we decided to push our trip out to when we would REALLY want to get out of town.
There is no better time to leave Minnesota, than February. Hands down. No arguments on this note.
That still left us with figuring out WHERE to go. It didn’t take long. Neither of us had been to Hawaii.

I had made Delta Platinum in 2016, and enjoyed those privileges all through 2017. But I didn’t think I’d be able to make Platinum again for 2017-2018. We opted to buy my ticket outright for $950 (so I’d earn 12,000 MQMs towards status). So we used miles to get my wife’s main cabin ticket, and my Platinum status got us both upgraded to Comfort Plus for the 18+ hours we’d spend in the air.

So two Comfort Plus seats from Minneapolis to Hawaii and back for $950. Not a bad way to start the honeymoon.
